The Central government is doing market research on suiting products for various overseas markets, said Union Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday said that the central government is doing market research on suiting products for various overseas markets.

In his address at the inaugural function of the 33rd India International Leather Fair, 2018 in Chennai, Prabhu said research is on suiting products for various overseas markets with a plan to design and make products that the other nations would want by partnering with them.

He said the central government has worked out a clear strategy on that includes creating partnerships in the global markets.

Prabhu, who unveiled a Rs 2,600 crore special package for the leather industry at the function, said it covers human resource development, subsidy for modernisation and setting up of common effluent treatment plant, setting up of mega leather clusters and others.

He said the government wants to set up mega leather cluster.
