The government on Sunday listed the steps taken by the revenue department to boost growth and employment generation by providing relief to businesses, small taxpayers and professionals.

"The revenue department has taken various steps to give relief to small taxpayers and small businesses and professionals," a finance ministry statement here said.

Moreover, the scope of presumptive taxation regime for small businesses has been extended by increasing the turnover up to Rs.2 crore, while this benefit is now available for professionals with turnover up to Rs.50,00,000, it added.

Further, tax benefit for the housing sector has been extended to promote construction industry.

The rate of tax on royalty and fees for technical services has also been reduced from 25 percent to 10 percent, the ministry said.

A completely change in thinking on revenue for government instead of Income tax. Actually the concept of Tax on income has distorted many financial investments .. money going to non productive activities, money not being directed for productive activity. As per statistics only a small proportion of Indian population is in Income tax scanner. Let us do away with it and start working on Transaction tax, digital transaction, and uni mode financial transaction. Lot us be first in the world to go for uni mode and transact tion tax.tax. Artha kranthi has given excellent PPT on the subject. I know it is difficult for present Income tax employees, chartered accountant,s legal experts, tax consultants who will give all reason why it is not practicable. A bold initiative is required to change the pattern of tax which has embedded in our govt-citizen platform. Initially let us exempt all salaried categories form payment of tax which is politically trump card.Introduce digital transaction at as many areas as possible including fertilizer, food sector, education sector, all imported items like crude, gold, silver, steel cement etc.
