A delegation from Yiwu city of China visited the ongoing India Carpet Expo - Varanasi on an invitation from Carpet Export Promotion Council. Wang Bi Rong, Director General Bureau of Commerce lead the delegation of 8 Members to see the different qualities of Indian Handmade Carpets displayed by 303 Exporters from all over the India in the said Expo.

While getting the overwhelming response from the Chinese delegation, CEPC Chairman - Kuldeep R. Wattal expressed the hope that Indian Carpets will be a big destination for export to China by having such collaborations.

The delegation from CEPC was led by Kuldeep R. Wattal, Chairman, CEPC and all Members of Committee of Administration of the Council. A presentation about the economy and other market position of the Yiwu City was made by Mr. Wang Bi Rong.

They were very excited to see the Expo and informed that they witnessed a very high quality of Indian Handmade Carpets, which they do not find in China. The delegation was confident that the Indian Handmade Carpets shall get a very good response for selling in Yiwu City. They informed that after the Expo, they will discuss with CEPC for making an Memorandum of understanding (MOU) for promoting and selling of Indian Handmade Carpets in Yiwu.

India Carpet Expo at Varanasi  witnessed the overwhelming presence of 350 Overseas Buyers in first 3 days  in addition to 276 Buying Representatives.

While thanking the CEPC for hosting them and giving them insight of Indian Handmade Carpets industry Rong the Director General expressed a great desire for having a strong representation of Indian Handmade Carpet Exporters in Yiwu City in their May, 2016 show.

Chairman- Wattal while appreciating the efforts of the delegation in making Indian Carpets popular in their country also assured the delegation that the Industry is looking forward to Yiwu City in particular and China as a whole, their business partner country in coming times.

Ravinder Jaiswal, MLA, Varanasi also visited India Carpet Expo and saw the arrangement and facilities available at fair ground. He also met the participating exhibitors and appreciated the new developments created by the Indian Carpet Manufacturers.

He also met the overseas buyers and Chinese delegation and said, "the carpet exporters and CEPC that he will apprise Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narander Modi ji of the efforts made by Carpet Export Promotion Council in providing such a great infrastructure to the manufacturers from Varanasi-Bhadohi-Mirzapur belt for promoting Indian Carpets and helping the artisans and weavers of this area."

Some of the leading and reputed buyers from US, U.K., Brazil South Africa, & other European Countries who visited the fair very much impressed with the display of various Handmade Carpets and other floor coverings and arrangements made by the organizers.

Organizers are extremely happy with the results till today and hope that tomorrow which is the last day of the Expo more and more buyer will come and make this Expo a very successful one.
