India will meet its projected target of collecting Rs.7 lakh crore in income tax in the ongoing 2014-15 fiscal, an income tax official said in Kolkata on Monday.

"I am sure we will meet this target of collecting Rs.7 lakh crore in income tax by the end of the fiscal," principal chief commissioner for West Bengal and Sikkim C.L. Denzongpa told IANS on the sidelines of a CII organised event.

Denzongpa said it was estimated that the income tax collection from West Bengal and Sikkim would Rs.31,500 crore in 2014-15.

"Out of this, Rs.29,000 crore has already been collected till February 2015," he said.

Excise Exemption Limit
Aggarwal I C | Tue Mar 3 18:33:56 2015
Long awaited demand of MSME to enhance the excise exemption limit from 1.5 crore was not considered. It is basic demand. Till the implementation of GST, excise exemption could have been increased. FM had also principally agreed during his speeches that this limit should be 5 crore. But he has taken no step in this budget. FM may Kindly reconsider it.
