Cheap Chinese imported items are giving tough competition to Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME), parliament was told on Monday.

These MSMEs manufacture electrical and electronics, mechanical and metallurgical and chemicals, glass and ceramic products.

As many as 12 product groups, largely manufactured by the Indian MSMEs, were adversely affected by Chinese imports, according to the data compiled by the director general of commercial intelligence and statistics.

"Imports from China for the 12 affected product groups grew at a higher rate than all the other countries combined during 2011-12 to 2014-15," union Minister for Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Kalraj Mishra told the Lok Sabha in a written reply on Monday.

Indian imports from China for the 12 product groups accounted to 74 percent of the total imports from China in 2014-15," he added.

"The government has been imposing anti-dumping duties, permitted under the WTO, for restricting imports when such imports have been established as unfairly affecting the market for goods and services produced by Indian industries," Mishra said.

The anti-dumping duties are executed by the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD).

The government also imposes safeguard duties to protect domestic industries against a surge of imports from other countries. This mechanism is operated by the Directorate General of Safeguards (DGSG), Mishra said.

The Indian government is implementing a slew of measures for MSMSEs to deal with the flood of Chinese imports.

Some of the measures include National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme (NMCP); Credit Guarantee Scheme; Credit Linked Capital subsidy Scheme; Cluster Development Programme; Market Development Assistance Scheme and Vendor Development Programme for Ancillarisation.

These measures help Indian MSMEs to grow and strengthen their competitiveness to face the Chinese imports in the country, Mishra said in the written reply.

Start up a meet with all manufacturers, understand their difficulties how to control import by helping indian manufacturer how they face the problem in terms of IMPORT. My suggestion: 1. Rather than controlling imports. controlling import will create an black mark on INDIA in other countries point of view. as every country whats to export more and reduce import, every country has departments like MSME in India. 2. Give good percentage of incentive to Custom officers, so that they think on right direction instead of getting bride. 3. There are many people, who know the product which can be manufactured in india, but need big funding for that, but due to cost of Raw material is higher side in india, which takes years for ROI. I my self know a product, if made in india we can control 200crore P.A. worth of import. but requires 30crores and ROI will be 10 years. Many people are there in india like me who know the product which can control import in lakhs of crores. Any one interested in my project, or what to help me by funding contact me at Aimofajith@gmail.com

Cheap Chinese items choking Indian MSMEs

Let us ask ourselves how the Chinese are allowed to dump in the first place. That our machinery is corrupt is the answer. Any amount of assistance to local manufacturers will not help as to avail of those measures the MSE's will meet huge challenges. Answer - stop inflow of Chinese goods till the matter is sorted out.

Import Cheap Chinese Products

With Liberalized economy, it would be impossible to stop this trade. However there can be certain parameters while calculating the value of the product w.r.t the price paid by consumer and also the recycling cost of these goods may be added as a separate duty component while importing such cheap products. Some of these Chinese products sold by retailers in India are lower the possible manufacturing cost of such product. The evaluation of manufacturing cost is disputable but can be found out Minimum Selling price of such goods made in India. I urge the Government to charge recycling duty on cheap imports else India will be a dumping ground for whole of the world. The traders and business community lives in today and they do not envisage future. The duty of Government to look at this aspect. Hope to see some steps in this direction very soon from Government.

Chese chineses items chocking Indian Industries.

Day by day, not only in domestic religious functions like Diwali, Ganpati utsav & on the occasion of other functions chines items are available cheaper, because of lower quality, but now chine is also entering in a big way in the other industrial markets, like pumps, motors, bearing, spares etc.etc. Govt. of India must take a appropriate action against the items supplied by Chinese manufacturers, by way of quality checking as American Govt., is doing. In these days on WHAT APPS, every where a movie is running , showing how Chinese manufacturers are producing RICE from waste plastic & exporting not only in India but in other countries for edible purpose. Indian so many small scale industries were destroyed because of Chinese supplies. This is because of Technology up gradations. Not only Chines Govt., is supporting ,but manufacturers are also doing a lot in this way. So this is the right time that Indian Industries start movement against these chines items & ask Govt., of India to BAN on these items. Govt. of India must make available latest technology to Indian Industries, so that they can produce durable & cheaper items. Other side Industries are also think, how they can produce durable & cheap items by adopting latest technology. This is only the way to save Indian Industries against these chines items. O.P.khan

Chinese imports

No matter what measures government takes, the ground reality is different. Customs officials are hungry. Any Chinese product can be imported with very little duty, just bribe the customs officials. The invoice is also under. Note that to get a job in customs you bribe a lot of people, so you must earn it back.

Possible. If you look at the toys sold in the market, the price declared is very low in the tune of Rs. 1/- or Rs 15 for toys. However the retailers sell them at Rs. 200 to Rs 300
