Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the world-renowned engineering and technology fair at Hannover in Germany in April 2015.

Addressing the gathering in New Delhi on Monday, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Ravi Capoor said, "India's participation at the Hannover Fair is timely as it would advance the campaign of the new government for making India the hub of global manufacturing."

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be attending the Hannover Fair since the head of the government of the Partner Country is invited by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, he added.

After a gap of nine-years, India has conveyed its consent to be the 'Partner Country' at the five-day engineering fair in Hannover, Germany to be held from April 12, 2015.

India has been participating at Hannover Messe since several years and was partner country for the fair in 2006. Participation in 2006 generated total business to the tune of USD 1.3 billion.

Indian high-tech products and services will receive instant visibility at Hannover Fair which has granted the coveted 'Partner Country' status to India for its April, 2015 edition with formal signing of the MoU between Deutsche Messe AG, organisers of the world's largest and oldest engineering trade fair in Germany and the Engineering Export Promotion Council of India (EEPC) India.

The Ministry of Commerce, the nodal ministry for India's international trade has mandated the EEPC India along with the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF) for organizing the high level participation from the country at Hannover Messe 2015 and help build reputation of India being a high tech and dependable supplier of engineering goods and turnkey services to global giants.

The MoU was signed Bhaskar Sarkar, Executive Director & Secretary, EEPC India and Marc Siemering, Senior Vice-President, Deutsche Messe AG in the presence of Ravi Capoor, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, EEPC India Chairman, Anupam Shah and Mehul Lanvers Shah, Managing Director of Hannover Milano Fairs India.

Several major deals were finalized including joint ventures between Mann Age and Force Motors, Deutsche Bann and Indian Railways during the Hannover Fair in Germany in April 2006.

"India and Germany have over USD 21 billion bilateral engagements and Germany is one of India's largest trading partners. There is potential for further growth of Foreign Direct Investment and we are hoping that through participation in Hannover Messe we are able to further strengthen the Indo-German trade relationship. A major focus will be to reinforce our global supply chain by attracting some key global investors from the fair to our country," said Anupam Shah, India Chairman, EEPC.

"India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and our engagement will prove highly beneficial for both the countries. I also believe that this alliance will give India an opportunity to stimulate its economic growth by opening itself up to further foreign investment, giving the country a suitable platform to engage with exhibitors from all across the globe. Over the coming months Deutsche Messe in India, will support the Indian Government in building participation for the show," said Marc Siemering, Senior Vice-President, Deutsche Messe AG.

As per the latest, the Hannover Fair attracts a footfall of almost two hundred thousand visitors from across the world, over 60 percent of which are key decision makers, technology heads, industrial scientists and top policy makers.
