Afghanistan will offer multiple entry visa to Indian businessmen on a long term basis with a view to bolstering economic ties with India, Ambassador of Afghanistan in India said on Tuesday.

"Afghanistan will be extending Multiple Entry Visa for Indian businessmen on long term basis with a view to strengthen economic ties with said H.E. Shaida Mohammad Avdali, Ambassador of Afghanistan in India while speaking at the Interactive Session organized by Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Avdali added that an MOU would be signed between Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) and Export Promotion Agency of Afghanistan (EPAA) very shortly for providing information on standard requirement of their respective countries, capacity building and exchange programme.

Avdali said that Afghanistan has announced New Investment Incentive Policy for attracting investment on long term basis (10 years) in sectors such as industry, construction, export promotion, agriculture and mining wherein the investor would be provided 5 years rent free location, concessional electricity and import of machinery without tax.

Earlier speaking on the occasion, Ajay Sahai, DG & CEO, FIEO said that the bilateral trade between India and Afghanistan has only witnessed modest growth in last 4 years and there is urgent need to diversify the exports and imports between the two countries.

Indian exports are dominated by man-made filament apparels, pharmaceuticals, Gems & Jewellery, tobacco, etc. which accounts for over 80 percent India's exports while dry-fruits, lac including gum resin contribute to 95 percent of imports from Afhganistan.

He stressed the need to take the benefit of Preferential Free Trade Agreement signed between India and Afghanistan in 2003.
