National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) has launched specialised Incubation Program for Unemployed girls and Women to take up their own ventures.

NSIC has set up Incubation Centres all over the country and invited young girls, aspiring Women Entrepreneurs to join the NSIC-Incubation program free of Cost," CMD, NSIC, Dr. H. P. Kumar said on Monday, speaking at the 12th Global Conference on "Trade Liberalization and its impact on Women Entrepreneurs".

The Micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector contributes to about 45 percent of the total manufactured output and nearly 40 percent to India's exports.

Women play a very important role in growth of Indian economy. There are about 26 million MSMEs in the country, providing employment to more than  60 million persons. Out of total 15.64 lakh registered enterprises 2.15 lakh (13.72 percent) are women entrepreneurs.

Out of the total 1.9 million women-owned enterprises in India, only 215,100 are registered. The share of women in southern states is the highest.

Tamil Nadu leads the country with 55,000 women-owned enterprises, followed by Kerala with 38,000, Karnataka at 27,000 and Gujarat 23,000. Uttar Pradesh, the largest state in the country has only 8,000 women-owned MSMEs, with Bihar, too, with a poor 2,600 units, reports media.

"The NSIC Incubation program is a integrated support by way of providing hands on training on working projects, it provides necessary facilities for prospective entrepreneurs and start up companies to learn product manufacturing processes coupled with technology development and business development," said Kumar.
