CP Kukreja Architects (CPKA) is set to design the township at Barmer in
Rajasthan for the HPCL Rajasthan Refinery, a joint venture company
between state-run Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) and the
Rajasthan government.
"Currently commencing construction, the
site is located adjacent to HRRL's upcoming oil refinery and in the
interiors of Thar desert," CPKA said in a statement.
It said that
the township is "smart and sustainable" with a focus on water
conservation and management. It is based on a "regeneration" model.
"In
a time when there is a rising popularity to go vertical, the township
of HRRL flourishes as a sustainable endeavour with features such as
low-rise edifices imbibing local Rajasthani architectural elements,
dense natural vegetation, open and shared recreational areas and a well
spread out water body which maintains micro-climate within and around
the site," the statement said.
