The Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has charted out a "strategic sales initiative" to boost the company's performance in 2017-18, an official said on Thursday.

SAIL achieved 12 per cent growth in saleable steel production and sales of over 13 million tonnes during 2016-17.

The company's Chairman P.K. Singh, at a meeting held at its marketing headquarters here on Thursday, reviewed the strategic sales initiatives laid down by the marketing team for the current financial year.

"We can achieve our targets through greater synergy amongst various units of the organisation," Singh said.

According to a statement, Singh set the ball rolling for an even better performance during the current financial year by stating that the considerably higher targets set could be fulfilled with effective strategic plans.

The steel producer's Director (Commercial) Soma Mondal assured that every possible effort would be made by the marketing team to boost the company's profitability through complete customer satisfaction.
