On the occasion of completing 10 years in operation, budget passenger carrier SpiceJet on Friday announced a 'Happy Birthday to Us' flash sale offering a 10 percent discount on select flights.

According to the company, the sales will last for only five hours from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. on Saturday for a travel period between July 1, 2015, and October 15, 2015.

“Today we celebrate a decade of service to India, a decade in which we have made flying more affordable and helped stimulate the market to grow at a record rate," said Sanjiv Kapoor, chief operating officer, SpiceJet.

“With this flash sale, we are pleased to offer yet another opportunity for customers the chance to fly with one of the most colourful and innovative airlines in India,” Kapoor said.

According to the airline, the offer is valid on select direct flights only which are on SpiceJet’s domestic network.

The airline commenced operations on May 23, 2005, by operating its first flight between New Delhi and Ahmedabad.
