Automobile manufacturer Ashok Leyland on Tuesday said it has bagged an order worth USD 82 million from the west African country of Senegal towards building their integrated transportation system.

"This order builds on our momentum in the African region and we are very proud to be not just supplying buses but partnering in progress, contributing to the restructuring of Senegal's transport sector," said Vinod K. Dasari, managing director, Ashok Leyland.

"Our in-house expertise and ability to offer customised solutions, in conjunction with our flexibility and speed in addressing customer requirements, has helped us win this order amidst stiff global competition," Dasari added.

According to the company, the order comprises supply of 475 buses, spares, assistance in development of workshops, training and consultancy on fleet management, vehicle tracking and monitoring systems.
