Budget passenger carrier SpiceJet Friday extended its discount scheme till Feb 1 citing overwhelming response.

“We are glad to see such exuberant response for our first promo offer of the year, indicating the huge pent up demand that there is in the market," said Kaneswaran Avili, chief commercial officer, SpiceJet.

"Considering the demand, we are extending this offer for two more days. Customers now have two more days to plan their holidays.”

According to the airline, passengers can avail the offer by booking tickets till Feb 1.

On Wednesday, the airline launched its discount scheme starting at Rs.1,499 for one way advance booking on all direct flights.

The airline is offering 500,000 seats through the new discount scheme which is valid for travel between Feb 15 and June 30, 2015.

The scheme is valid on all direct flights on SpiceJet's domestic network.

Other airlines such as full service carrier Jet Airways too launched its special fare offer starting at Rs.4,459.

According to industry analysts, other airlines may follow suite by offering discount fare offers to fill up seats during the lean season.
