The 39th Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair (Spring - 2015) to open on Friday at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, NCR Delhi, informed the handicraft export council at a press conference in Greater Noida.

The IHGF (Spring) is being organized by the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH). Rama Raman, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) will be inaugurating the Expo. N.P. Singh, District Magistrate, Gautam Budhnagar will be the Guest of Honour at the inaugural ceremony.

The fair will witness participation by 2524 Indian exhibitors, including 900 permanent marts, drawn from all over India and exhibition is spread over 12 exhibition halls. Exhibits from more than 15 categories of products belonging to House ware, ii) Home ware iii) Festive décor, iv)Fashion jewellery, v) Luggage, leather bags, and cases, vi) Furniture and accessories, vii) Carpets, rugs and floorings, viii) Bathroom accessories, ix) Spa and wellness x) Stationery, xi) Lamps and lighting, chandeliers, lampshades, lanterns, xii) Decorative articles & giftware, xiii) Garden ornaments, lawn accessories, xiv) Sustainable products, jute, cane, bamboos, natural fibers, hand-woven mats, xv) Educational games, trophies, games, toys etc will be displayed during the 4 days of the fair.

It will be pertinent to mention that top buyers of the world who cater to various sections of consumers in the region of America, Europe, Far and Middle East etc. source their product requirement from this fair. To name a few of important buyers like Wall Mart, Pier-1, Messey, Bloomingdales, Mark and Spencer, Carrefour, K-Mart, Eatons, Cost Plus World Market, Peek Cloppenberg, C&A, Gallerie-de Lafayat, Harrods, Selfridge and Sogo & Hobby Lobby etc. are regularly buying from India. These departmental and chain stores are spread all over in America and Europe and are known to cater to the high end consumer market as well as to their middle end markets also as informed by Vinod Johari, President, IHGF Spring 2015.

Indian Handicrafts & Gifts Fair has established itself as one of the most important sourcing event for the international buyers. It is now also recognized as the most effective marketing medium by the Indian handicrafts manufacturers and exporters. The fair has helped the growth of the handicrafts sector in diversifying its product range and also creating new markets worldwide. On an average 4000-5000 buyers from more than 60 countries have been visiting this fair to source their requirements further informed by Rakesh Kumar,Chairman, India Expo Centre and Mart and Executive Director - EPCH.

Looking at the popularity amongst the overseas buyers towards exquisiteness of the totally "Made in India" product categories on display, it is expected that more than 4500 overseas business visitors including buyers, importers, departmental stores, chain stores, boutique owners, agents, distributors, fashion designers, interior decorators etc from countries like USA, UK, Japan, France, Italy, Canada, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, China, Australia are expected to visit this fairing order to source their product requirements . It is also worth mentioning that buyers even from Latin American region particularly Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Panama, Chile, Central Asia, Africa and middle east will also be sourcing their requirement at this fair. The total number of products and styles and designs on display are estimated to be around 1250 further elaborated Kumar.

Two seminars entitled, "Opportunities and Export strategies for Handicrafts products in Latin America & Caribbean Region" and "Effective use of Digital Marketing and Online Promotion" for Handicrafts Sector will be held on 21st and 22nd February, 2015 during the fair.

Handicrafts exports have been growing on an average growth rate of 15% per annum during the last decade. The growth during the current year is expected to be around 31% in Rupee term and 15% in US Dollar term. The handicrafts exports during the year 2013-14 was Rs. 23,504.42 crores with a growth rate of 30.80% .
