eTailing India, the well-known eCommerce knowledge platform, and Internet Retailer, a global publisher of strategic e-commerce business information, Tuesday announced a partnership to jointly produce the India 100, the first ranking of the largest online retailers in India.

Slated for a February 2015 release at the eTailing India Expo in Mumbai, the India 100 will rate the country's top 100 web merchants by the type of trade and product lines, based on annual sales and other key operating metrics, a company statement said.

The India 100 will also provide the global e-retailing community in-depth analysis of the leaders and trends driving India's multi-billion dollar e-commerce market, the statement added.

"This is mission-critical data that will enable web merchants, vendors, investors and interested parties the world over to truly understand the trends and leaders that are growing the e-commerce market in India," Ashish Jhalani, founder of eTailing India said.

"With the industry pegged to reach $90 billion by 2021 and leading e-retailers such as Flipkart and others competing for a massive base of middle class consumers with mobile devices, e-commerce in India is a force to be reckoned with," he said.

"The India 100 reflects our continuing commitment to bringing competitive e-commerce information to this fast growing market," he said, adding this research will also be circulated widely in India and elsewhere around the world.

Under the partnership, eTailing India will take the lead role in identifying, researching and contacting India's leading web merchants. Internet Retailer, publisher of Top500Guide.com, will provide data management, analysis and publishing services.

"We're investing heavily in bringing global e-commerce research and data analysis to Indian executives because of India's undeniable and growing importance in global online retailing," said Mark Brohan, vice president of research of Vertical Web Media, which publishes Internet Retailer and its global e-commerce research publications.

The India 100 report will be available in digital, downloadable format from eTailing India website and InternetRetailer.com as eTailing India Expo 2015 in Mumbai kicks off in February 2015.
