National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Business Development (NIESBUD), an autonomous body working in the Ministry of MSME, Government of India has taken a call to strengthen it's outreach and engagement with the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) segment by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SMEStreet – an online knowledge sharing platform from Vertical Business Media Pvt. Ltd.

With this tie-up, being a flagship institute working on areas such as skill and entrepreneurship development, NIESBUD will support SMEStreet's line of activities around awareness building, knowledge sharing and specialized outreach programs that are aimed to establish direct engagement with MSMEs, informed a press release on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Arun Kumar Jha, Director General, NIESBUD said, "In a country like India, there is huge untapped potential in terms of entrepreneurship and skill development. Government of India is taking strong efforts in order to create a holistic growth oriented ecosystem for entrepreneurs and for businesses. Now, the challenge is to efficiently reach out to maximum number of entrepreneurs and educate them about the opportunities that exist in their ecosystem. Also, creating opportunities for skill development for entrepreneurs as well as their employees is also an area which needed to work upon. While working on such mission, we found that SMEStreet is such knowledge sharing platform which is actively working upon these areas. Partnering with SMEStreet for this mission will definitely add a great thrust to our mission."

While sharing his views on this tie up, Faiz Askari, Editor of SMEStreet and Founder of Vertical Business Media, said, "In Indian entrepreneurship and MSME sector, there are plenty of challenges and hence, we consider them plenty of opportunities to work upon. Entrepreneurship development through value added knowledge sharing exercise and skill development is an important aspect for MSMEs growth. We aim to facilitate a proactive business environment for MSMEs. We are committed towards enabling MSMEs to grow exponentially in their businesses etc. Through SMEStreet, we are trying to bridge the gap of communication and knowledge access between the experts and the entrepreneurs."

He also said, "Getting NIESBUD’s support at this time is going to give us great thrust. NIESBUD's knowledge and network will add great value to our entrepreneur community which is growing rapidly."

NIESBUD has trained more than 3,50,000 people so far. As a annual target, NIESBUD is set to provide skill development training to 2,00,000 people in the current financial year of 2014-15. This is by-enlarge the highest target to achieve for any single organization.

SMEStreet is working on creating an interactive platform smestreet(dot)in which helps SMEs to grow to the next level. In addition to online content, SMEStreet is also enabling a direct connect or engagement platform which offer expert guidance and mentoring to businesses with regards to areas such as technology, marketing, finance, global business and more.
