German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes-Benz India Tuesday launched its luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) GL 63 AMG in India priced at Rs.1.66 crore (ex-showroom Mumbai).

"It is one of the most revolutionary products to come from Mercedes-Benz demonstrating the rich blend of sophistication with the latest design and technology," said Eberhard Kern, managing director and chief executive, Mercedes-Benz India.

The new SUV is powered by a 5.5-litre V8 BITURBO engine, which develops a peak output of 410 kW and maximum torque of 760 Nm. The engine is coupled with AMG speedshift plus 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission which also incorporates a fuel-economy converter.

The SUV also features two 20.3 cm displays and sound system from Harman Kardon with 14 high-performance speakers, wireless headphones and two infrared remote controls.

Another unique feature of GL 63 AMG is its night view assist plus which enables drivers to recognise pedestrians walking in the dark with the help of infrared headlamp and camera.
