Automobile major Tata Motors Wednesday reported a 7.02 percent decline in group global sales in April, which stood at 81,241 units from 87,377 units sold in the corresponding month of 2012.

The global sales of all commercial vehicles, including those of Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range, was higher by 5.15 percent in the month under review at 39,969 units from 38,008 units sold in April, 2012.

However, the company's passenger vehicles sales last month were lower by 16.40 percent at 41,272 units from 49,369 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

"Global wholesales of Tata passenger vehicles in April 2013 were 12,398 units," the company said in a statement.

The company further reported that the sales of Jaguar Land Rover brand in April 2013 was up 14.89 percent at 28,874 units from 25,143 units sold in the corresponding month of last year.

"Jaguar sales for the month were 5,334 units (increase of 48.04 percent from 3,603 units), while Land Rover wholesales in were 23,540 units (9.28 percent from 21,540 units)," the statement added.
