Schneider Electric India has received the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (GPACSR) for the year 2012.

The award, in recognition of Schneider Electric's corporate social responsibility initiatives in the areas of village electrification, electrician trainings, employment and entrepreneurship, was presented to the company by Dubai Economic Council (DEC) Chairman Juma Al Majid, who is also the founder Chairman of Juma Al Majid Group, on April 25 at Dubai Global Convention 2012.

"The award is certain to inspire and encourage our large group of members of Schneider Electric India and the Corporate Social Responsibility team to intensify and extend their efforts to achieve greater success on all the three fronts – economic, social and environmental," said the company's country President Mr. Olivier Blum on the occasion of receiving the award.

The Golden Peacock Awards, instituted by the Institute of Directors (IOD), are presented annually under various categories. First introduced in 1991, these awards are now recognised worldwide as the hallmark of corporate excellence because of their independence, integrity, transparency.

The winners of the award for this year were finalized by a panel of 4 judges which includes Dr. Ola Ullsten, former Prime Minister of Sweden; Lt. Gen Surinder Nath, PVSM, AVSM (retd.) former Vice Chief of Indian Army & former Chairman, Union Public Service Commission; Justice P N Bhagwati, former Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India; and Dr. A N Saksena, former Financial Advisor, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas.

The award application covered a detailed evaluation process where the evaluators recognize a variety of conditions under which an organization conducts its activities and consider these factors in their assessment of the organization’s performance against the assessment criteria. This is followed by a site visit, where the evaluators verify that the written submission truly reflects organization’s system and process.

Schneider Electric India is the Indian arm of Schneider Electric, a French global company offering energy efficiency solutions, which operates  in more than 100 countries, and offers integrated solutions across multiple market segments, including leadership positions in energy and infrastructure, industrial processes, building automation, and data centres & networks, and residential applications.
