Japanese-Indian car joint venture Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd began the fiscal 2012-13 on a positive note, logging 49 percent sales growth in April over the same period in 2011.

According to a statement issued by the company Tuesday, the company had sold 14,378 units in April 2012 as against 9,681 units sold in April 2011.

The Etios series recorded a sales of 5,624 units as compared to 4,657 units in April last year.

The New Innova sold 6,582 units last month as compared to 3,464 units sold in April last year, registering a growth of 90 percent.

The New Fortuner sold 1,270 units as compared to 739 units in the corresponding month while the Corolla Altis logged 881 units sales.

"The Etios series, Innova, Fortuner continue to register growth in April. However, the market sentiments seem to be low with the enquiry levels gone down across the industry," Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director - marketing was quoted as saying in the statement.
