Amplus Energy Solutions, which calls itself a distributed and rooftop solar company, has announced a fresh round of investment of Rs 500 crore for its second open access solar project of 100MW in district Deoria, Uttar Pradesh.

Amplus Energy Solutions is Asia's leader in providing distributed solar and energy solutions to industrial and commercial customers.

Prior to this, Amplus has already committed an investment of Rs. 250 crore to set up a 50MW solar open access project in Mirzapur. The Mirzapur project is under construction and expected to be commissioned by September this year.

A power importing state, Uttar Pradesh aims to become self-reliant in energy generation. Uttar Pradesh Electrcity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has played an active role in formulating regulations and vitalising the solar energy sector.

The plant to be set up in Deoria aims to boost the state government's solar ambition. This project will generate 700 jobs and supply green energy to many industries located in the state.

Amplus owns and operates several on-site solar projects in Uttar Pradesh, including India's first solar powered expo centre at IEML, Noida and one of India's largest rooftop solar plants for self-consumption, a 6.2MW plant at Yamaha, Noida.

"We are excited to partner with Uttar Pradesh and with the strong support for these two projects that we are constructing, we are looking forward to adding more capacity in the state in the coming years", said Mr. Sanjeev Aggarwal, Amplus' Managing Director and CEO.

Earlier this year, Amplus had also announced two open access projects in Haryana. The company already owns India's largest single location open access solar project in Gadag, supplying 175MW solar power to businesses in Karnataka.

Amplus is a member of the PETRONAS group, Malaysia. It owns a portfolio of over 600MW of under operation and construction solar assets across Asia. The company is also diversifying in new avenues such as Battery storage, Energy Efficiency, and Electric mobility.
