The Himachal Pradesh cabinet on Wednesday decided to set up a skill development corporation to provide training to the unemployed youth.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will be chairman of the corporation, named Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam.

Minister for technical education, the minister for rural development, the minister for labour and employment and the minister for education will be its members.

The step has been taken to encourage public-private interface for providing skills to the youth on large scale, an official statement said.

The cabinet, presided over by the chief minister, also gave the nod to revamping the proposal clearance mechanism of the state-level single window clearance and monitoring authority for setting up industrial units within 45 days from 90 days.

It was also decided that a nodal officer would be appointed for all new proposals.
