Sensex provisionally closes flat

A benchmark index of the Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip BSE Sensitive Index (Sensex), provisionally closed flat on Wednesday -- down 40 points or 0.14 percent.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed flat. It provisionally ended the day's trade down 0.85 points or 0.01 percent at 8,338.50 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 27,447.40 points, closed the day's trade at 27,571.11 points (at 3.30 p.m.) -- down 39.70 points or 0.14 percent from the previous day's close at 27,531.41 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,595.80 points and a low of 27,363.72 points in the intra-day trade.
