Sensex closes 479 points up

A benchmark index for the equities, the sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange, closed 479.28 points or 1.77 percent up on Friday.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed up 150.45 points or 1.84 percent at 8,331.95 points.
The 30-scrip Sensex, which opened at 27,204.63 points, closed at 27,490.59 points (provisionally at 3.56 p.m.) -- up 479.28 points, or 1.77 percent, over the previous day's close at 27,011.31 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 27,537.85 points and a low of 27,159.45 points in the intra-day trade.
