The Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned twice Wednesday as agitated opposition MPs took up the problems faced by weavers in various parts of the country.

The outcry erupted when Textile Minister Anand Sharma was answering a question on government schemes for weavers.

Alleging that the government was not sensitive to the problems of weavers, some MPs from the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal-United, Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party gathered near the chairman's podium.

As the MPs did not allow the minister to reply to supplementaries, Chairman Hamid Ansari asked them to give a notice for a separate debate on the issue.

Opposition members, however, paid no heed and the house was first adjourned for 10 minutes and then till 12 noon.
