Car maker Audi, part of German auto giant Volkswagen, plans to
relaunch car production in Russia
in 2013, an official said.
Audi AG Board Chairman Rupert Stadler said the company is likely to start
producing A4 and A6 models, as well as Q5 and Q7 models, in Russia in the middle of next year.
Audi shut down its car production facilities in Russia in 2010.
The new production lines, with an initial annual capacity of 10,000 cars, will
be built at the Volkswagen plant in Kaluga in
central Russia.
The new production lines are part of Volkswagen's one billion euro investment
programme for Russia
till 2018, Stadler said.
The Kaluga
plant currently produces Volkswagen Polo and Tiguan, Skoda Fabia and Octavia
models.
